Welcome to New Albion Wind Farm
On 19th January 2010, Kettering Borough Council approved planning permission to develop New Albion Wind Farm, on the land belonging to Towns Close Farm in between the villages of Rushton and Pipewell.
The New Albion Wind Farm proposal met with all local and national policies and has been sensitively designed to fit in with its surrounding landscape and cause minimal impact. Consequently, the project received no objection from all of the statutory consultees including; English Heritage, Natural England (and RSPB), The Highways Agency, MoD, Civil Aviation Authority and The Environment Agency.
Consultation with statutory and non-statutory consultees and the public commenced in May 2008 and Infinergy are committed to continuing the consultation and working with the local community throughout the development and construction processes. The wind farm when constructed will comprise:
- 7 wind turbines, each having an installed maximum generating capacity of up to 16.1 MW
- Hub height of up to 65 metres and with a blade tip of up to 100 metres
- A Control Building
- A Substation
- A permanent 65 metre anemometer mast
- Underground cabling to connect to the local distribution network
When operational the wind farm will produce enough clean energy to provide electricity for up to 9,000 homes – that’s the equivalent of a quarter of all the homes in the Borough of Kettering.
